Wilding conifer research

Invasion Impacts

Project description

Measure the impacts of major wilding conifer species, synthesise knowledge on invasive tree impacts and identify emerging research issues. Study site selection and implementation treatments.

‘Winning against wildings’
– funded by Ministry for Business and Innovation

Research team lead: Duane Peltzer

Specific research topics

Quantifying the known impacts of major wilding conifer species on biological heritage and ecosystem properties.

Using a directed working group to collate and synthesise all we know about invasive tree impacts, and horizon-scan emerging research issues on invader impacts. This is to provide international context for our research, and maintain high standards of science excellence.

Field trials to assess the effectiveness of current best practice control methods.
